HISTORY OF IJMB
The Interim Joint Matriculation Board was established in 1976 by the Interim Common Services Agency (ICSA). ICSA itself was established by the government of the old Northern Region of Nigeria to provide educational and social services to the people of the region. The first IJMBE (Interim Joint Matriculation Board Examination) was held in 1977 for all students who had undergone the IJMB post secondary education program in the existing schools of Basic/Preliminary studies which had replaced the HSC. The IJMBE is essentially an Advance Level Examination except for only two subjects offered at the ordinary level. The standard of the examination at both levels is equal to that of the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) at similar levels. The Board is administered by the Institute of Education of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria. Other members of the board include representatives of various education insitutions such as Joint Admission Matriculation Board; Federal University of Technology, Minna. Candidates use the result of this examination to seek for admission at the 200 level in any University.
Through IJMB Direct Entry program, candidate for this examination are admitted as IJMBE students by the affiliated colleges, for a year program of studies. The writing of this examination signifies the end of the program. A candidate is required to obtain a minimum of 6 out of 16points to qualify for university admission to 200 level. Candidates are required to have 5 O’ level credits (including Mathematics and English) before they are admitted into the university. IJMBE offers two subjects at O’ level (English and Mathematics) which are taken by those who failed to have credit passes in them at SSCE/NECO/NABTEB.
The programme is been accepted by 97% of the universities in Nigeria. To know the universities that accept the program and more relevant information.
The programme last for only nine months. In this centre there is transparency and necessary info are been released to student as at when due. It would also be pleasing to know that the programme is acceptable even beyond the shores of our great country Nigeria. We have students in various countries especially Malaysia who have secured admission using the IJMB A’level programme. The justify run lectures regularly and also make sure the student registration is been done properly and in due time. The justify try their possible best that student have a good points at the end of the programme by equipping them with the necessary text books and resource materials.

We advise interested candidates to come for their registration in other to prevent any difficulties or delay. We have success stories of students in various universities that accept the programme and we encourage and also give educational advice where necessary.
IJMB will allowed you to choose three courses/subjects that are related to what you want to study in the university of your choice. The highest point for each course is five(5) points, which is denoted by A. That is, all the three courses will have fifteen (15) points in total, with an addition of one (1) if in the three courses/subjects you don’t have F(fail) which stands for 0 points. Making a total of sixteen points (16) all together.

A = 5 courses/subjects
B = 4 points
C = 3 points
D = 2 points
E = 1 points
F = 0 points
For you to be considered as being passed in IJMB exam you must scored a minimum of 5 points in total i,e EDE stands for (1+2+1) which is five (5) points.
Why IJMB Is Better Than Other Programs
It is worthy to note, that before JAMB/UTME came to existence, IJMB was only the tool used to gain admission then, ask these many professors they will confirm it to you. The same problem facing other sectors in Nigeria have huge effect on Nigeria education sector, hence, you find few people that only know little about IJMB.
Advantages IJMB Have Over JAMB And Other Programs
1.The result takes whopping of 7 years to expire unlike your JAMB that is only for a year.
2. You can use it over and over again
3. You can still be doing it and apply for JAMB if you want to kill two birds with a stone
4. You will have higher CGP in your university as is going to be divided by 3years not four years not four years like others who used JAMB.
5. You have more advantages of being admitted unlike those used JAMB since IJMB students are very fewer in ratio.
6. I have come across with many educated parents that told me, if my children don’t use IJMB result to gain admission into university, doesn’t really bother me, all I want from them is to have first hand experience with A’level program before gaining admission fully to university – yes, this is what is seen in other advanced climes, you just have to study a year with Advanced program before gaining admission fully to university of your choice.
